how do I make money, I have 0 gold or whatever and the only quest I have requires me having at least 10,000. also how do I get new items

Simply walking around in game and clicking on the bubbles of items will help get your gold up,
Once you have your professtions you can begin to make your own items or if you build up enough gold you can buy items from the market.

If its for the starting tutorial quests, from what I remember they're mapped out well to ensure that the previous quest gives you enough to complete the next one. Try talking to Jean - the first NPC you'll see in Linden - she probably has more quests for you to help the cost.
