Art and Art Forum Rules

If you have any questions put in a support ticket. We're happy to help you.

1. No Public NSFW Art. Any art being posted depicting sexual or otherwise explicit content must be FULLY censored. No items (Customs, Swaps, or Designer) may be NSFW, they will not be approved. If the NSFW content is reported as not properly censored, we leave it up to the responding moderator to decide whether or not the content has been properly covered. To avoid any issues, its best to not post these types of images publicly.
You MAY do NSFW Art through Artist Tickets and Art Chats ONLY. (Explained below)

2. Don't harass each other. If someone doesn't want to work on a piece for you, you cannot make them. If you don't think someones art is 'good' you don't really need to voice that, its rude. If someone is harassing you, use your Foe List. Just mouse over their avatar and click "Foe". This will force them to go away, if this person then uses other accounts to get around your Foe list, report them.

3. Keep your Promises - Don't scam people. If you take payment for a commission, finish your commission. If you say you'll only sell 10 copies of an item then only sell 10 copies. Claiming things and not sticking to them can be considered scamming if you're not careful and cheating your fellow players is a bannable offense. If you want to do a limited run on an item, either by number of sales or by time you can use the Limit feature on your art shop to have this done automatically. (Explained below) If post anywhere that you are limiting the item you will be held to it, even if you do not use your shops auto limit features. Copies of the item you're holding will count towards the limit you claim.

Sometimes Limited time bases will be available such as Pumpkins in October. Items which fall under limited time by the designer feature only pertains to the time frame in which you can make that design. It does not limit when you can sell that design. Do not rely on the site to automatically stop selling a limited base item for you, you must use your art shops limit feature if you want it done automatically.

Rules may change without warning if problems arise that we must address.

Designer and Custom Item Rules.

Getting Approved
  • Design must be PG13. Nothing sexually explicit or graphically gory, cartoon violence is okay.
  • Design must be original. That said, we're not magical all-knowing genies. While you may successfully sneak things past us, if the owner of the original design asks us to remove it, we will have to. This goes for designs copied from other members, as well as copywritten or trademarked designs.
  • "Alphabet" items will not be approved. You may put words on your items, but any items with single letters will not be approved.
  • Solid Colors:
ITEM DESIGNER: Solid Colored items made in the designer will not be approved. When you make an item in the designer you get ownership of that design. A solid color is not a design, and for example you cannot get ownership of the color purple.
CUSTOM ITEMS: Because you make the item yourself, a solid color will be approved. You get ownership of the items design, not the color.
  • Rules may change without warning if problems arise that we must address.

My Design was copied!
First,- Review was your design original?
As in 100% made up by you. Googling a pearler bead design is not original. Making a design from a movie, book, tv show, anime or anything else which you did not create yourself is not original. If you report something as a copy, the first thing we're going to do it try to google for that image to ensure it actually is original. The second thing we're going to do is ask the person you accuse where they get the design from. So please, don't lie about originality.
All good? Then lets get it sorted out:
If you are an artist here or at least have an account, open up a support ticket.
If you are a company or do not have an account, drop us an e-mail at support@solia.online and we'll check it out as soon as we can.

Getting and Using the Artist Job

The artist job allows you to create items or manage art commissions with or without the use of the forums. If you want to sell art commissions without the use of the artist job or art shops you may do so. (You must still follow the art rules.) The artist job is just there to assist in the process. But if you want to create avatar items, you must have the artist job.

Spoiler: show
    Get the artist job.
Talk to Artie in town, he stands across the path to the left of Jean. You'll need to get the Artist Job from him in order to make an art shop or use any of the artist features.

This will give you access to certain things. The main piece is the Artist Tool and the Artist Job.

The Artist Tool is this page: [click here]. This allows you to use various methods to create items. If you want to make other types of art, the artist job can help you with that as well in ways described below.

The artist Job can be accessed in game the same way all your other jobs are. Here's what each feature does:

    Image
    1. Artist Tickets
Art Tickets are a convenient way to keep track of your commissions. You can also use them to keep track of offers by placing them into the market. When you make the ticket you can define what you are and aren't willing to do so the ticket also acts as a contract if you're being asked to do things outside of what you're comfortable with. Try to think of the rules of your art before you sell it, things like how much time the commission will take, how many edits if any you're willing to do. If you'll only do avatar art, if you are willing to draw from descriptions and so on.
    Image

    2. Art Chats
When someone has your Artist Ticket you can also talk to them about their commission privately through Art Chat instead of doing so publicly. If the types of art you're willing to do includes NSFW images you CANNOT post the details or the completed images publicly. In those cases please use the Art Chat and keep it private.

    3. Create a Copy
You can create copies of your items by clicking this skill. You can do this to get copies for yourself or so you can list them on the market instead of in an art shop if you prefer. Keep in mind that when you list your item in the market you have to pay the item creation fee up front, as well as pay the markets listing fee if it sells. The art shops do not have a listing fee.

Create your Art Shop

Creating an art shop is easy, just follow these steps:

Spoiler: show
    1. Make a thread in the Art Realm forum.

    2. In your thread, click this button at the top of the page.
    Image
That will pop up this menu, when your ready click Create Shop to confirm you want that thread to be your shop. It costs nothing to open a shop thread.
    Image

All Done!

Using your Art Shop

Spoiler: show
    1. Create a Design.

    2. Go to your Art Shop thread.

    3. The Shop part of your thread sits at the top of your thread. Click the blank dotted box to list an item for sale.
    Image

    4. Pick the Design you created that you want to sell and fill out the form.
    Image
Pay special attention to the Creation Cost of the item. A message at the bottom of the forum will let you know how much you will make for the sale of the item. The creation cost is determined by the item blank you choose to use.
In the given example it costs 3,000g to make a tank top. This means if you list it for 3,000g you will make 0 gold. If you list the item for 3,500g you will make 500 gold. If you list it UNDER the creation cost like in the example image, YOU will have to pay the difference between what your buyer paid and the creation cost of the item. So if you list a tank top with a creation cost of 3,000gold, and you list it for 400 gold, you will have to pay 2,600 gold when someone buys your item. (3,000g - 400g = 2,600g) If you do not have enough gold on your character who owns the thread to make up the difference, people will not be able to buy your item.
    Image
You can sell for luna! Click the button on the end to swap between gold and luna. If selling for luna you will have to pay the creation cost of the item if someone buys it. If you do not have enough gold on your character who owns the thread to make up the difference, people will not be able to buy your item.

If you want to do a special Limited Time Item, like a holiday edition item, you can! Your shop will even help you do this by clicking the "Limited Item" bubble under the cost box.

The first option is the item designer. This requires no art programs of your own and happens entirely on-site. These items will never be rejected for quality, the approval process for designer items is just to ensure the design hasn't been copied from another member, and that the design is appropriate and fits site rules.

Spoiler: show
After you click the item designer you'll see this page
Image

Load and Load Submitted, let you continue or edit items you've already started. Since we don't have any yet click New.
Image

This will pop up this menu, lit items are bases you can currently choose from. Dimmed items are bases that are available but you haven't purchased yet. Choose an item base to use.
Image

This is your workspace. The top left has the colors you've used in your design, this way you don't have to repeatedly re-find a color. Besides this quick palette you can also use the eye drop tool to re-grab a color. To the right is your current color. By clicking that, you can pick a new color.
Image

The Pencil Tool will allow you to use the current color to draw on the base. The program will not allow you to draw outside the base, so you don't need to be too careful. Using the slider below the current color you can zoom in. If you want to zoom on a particular spot you can click the magnifying glass above the slider and then click on your canvas to zoom just the clicked spot.
Image

When Zoomed in, you can see what your design looks like at normal size by looking at the preview on the right.
Below your Preview, there are the items layers. You can toggle open the layer editing options by clicking the Pencil, you can hide a layer by clicking the eye.
Image

If you use the drop down menu's you can change the color of the shading on the item. The colors available are the same colors you find when recoloring items in your inventory. While the tanktop in this example has 1 layer, items like pants will have more layers, so your design must be done in sections.
Image

Whatever design you make, it must be made for all 3 bases. It must be the same design on all 3 bases. So to swap to the next base click one of the base icons below the preview.
Image

To make things easier, there is a clone tool to the right of the 3 base icons. This will copy your design you made on the previous base onto the current base. Since I started with the Female base after clicking the clone button, I click the female button and then submit and it will place the design I made on the female base onto the male base I currently have open.
ImageImage

Now the bases are not the same size. So the design will not line up perfectly. Use the move tool to move the cloned design into the right spot, then you only need to do little touch ups here and there to make it look nice instead without having to start from scratch for each base.

Image

So once all 3 match its a good idea to save your creation. This is so if, for any reason, your design is rejected you can pop it back up and make any changes that might be needed.

Image
Image

Once you've saved, you can submit the item. If you try to submit before saving your item, you'll get this message:
Image

So click save and give your creation a name. THIS IS NOT SAVED ON SOLIA. This saves your project TO YOUR BROWSER. So if you clear your cashe you will lose this save. Once your Item is approved, you no longer need the save data and can clear it on your browser if you want.

Once approved, you'll get an alert and then you can start wearing, creating or selling your design via the methods outlined earlier in this thread.

Simple Skinning
Image
[Jump to Artist Tools]

This method requires you to have an art program on your computer. You download the item files to your computer then use an art program to edit it how you like. This method is vetted for quality, the item MUST match Solia's Art Style. The item will also be checked that the design has not been copied, is appropriate and follows the sites rules.

When uploading your item keep in mind that all items must be uploaded as TRANSPARENT PNG. Any other format, or PNG's with colored backgrounds will not work.
Spoiler: show
Once you've clicked Simple Skinning, you'll reach this page:
Image

This is a list of all of the items you own that can be reskinned. YOU MUST OWN A COPY OF THE ITEM TO ALTER IT. If someone requests you make a skin for them and you do not have the item, ask them to go to this page and grab the image for you. From these, you'll find there are 2 types of items. Animated and non Animated.

Animated Items
If you click on an animated item what you'll see may seem kind of strange. Instead of seeing the item as you'd expect what you instead see is the animated items textures. You CANNOT alter this image in any way. If you do, it will break your item. A broken item will not be approved. To ensure your item does not break, stay within the lines of the item like so:
Image

As long as no piece of the item is outside of the texture, the item will work fine. If you mess with the texture the system does not know what you've done so won't know how to grab say the legs of your pet and such.
Image

With an animated item, the preview will use the skin you uploaded to show you whether or not your skin will animate properly. As long as the preview works properly you're good to go! Name your skin and submit it for approval.

AFTER MARCH UPDATE
Common Pets have had their textures updated to account for extra space. This ONLY works for common pets that have manually had this update done; See the spoiler below for information on how to use those special pets.

Non-Animated Items
Items which do not animate are a bit different then an animated one because they can offer Seasons. When saving a non animated item ALWAYS click the image given to download the full-sized item file. DO NOT right click and save as because you will not get the right canvas size.
Image

When doing a non animated item, decide whether you want this item to change throughout the year, or stay the same all year. The seasons coincide with Solia's seasons which change on the following dates:
    Dec - Feb : Winter
    Mar - May : Spring
    Jun - Aug : Summer
    Sep - Nov : Fall
You can either use 'All Seasons' which means the item will look the same all year OR separate seasons. You cannot do both on one design because there is no 'down time' in the seasons so the All Seasons image would never be used. If using the separate seasons there must be an image for each season, you cannot leave one blank. If you want the same image to appear for multiple seasons you need to have 2 copies of the same image and upload them separately.
Image

When you save your image, you CANNOT alter the size of the image. But so long as you stay within that space, you do not have to stay within the lines of the item.
Image

If you alter the canvas at all in a way that would break the item, you will get an error telling you the canvas is the wrong size.
Image

If you want to upload an item edit that alters the canvas, it must be turned in as an Item Edit, not a skin.

Once you've completed your edit, name it and submit for approval.

Specialty Items
In your item list, you may find some odd looking items such as this one:
Image

That odd black-and-white circle means its altering something around it, in this case it is a lantern and its altering the light around it. What its altering is set by the items code, you cannot change it to alter something other then what its set to do. In these cases, you cannot change the distance which it will alter. In this given example you cannot make its light go any further then the black circle, you can however alter the light within that circle. If you make shapes in the black circle using white or cut holes in it those will appear in the light it gives off!

Special Boundaries for Common Pets
Spoiler: show
Certain common animals have been altered to allow additions to their base. This will ONLY work on these animals, other animals or pets will break if you attempt to add onto them. These have been coded and designed to include the extra space which is why you can edit extra's onto them. This is done to these pets in particular due to their popularity in use for skinning. Pets such as those found on Gacha will not have this extra work done to them due to their rarity likely causing them to be seldom used in skinning. (At the time of writing this in fact no no one has edited a gacha pet.) If a pet becomes popular in skinning, it may had the extra work done to add the extra space. If that happens any skins in the system at the time of the update will be automatically updated.

The Blue Boxes show the boundary area for that piece of the texture, DO NOT UPLOAD YOUR IMAGE WITH THE BLUE BOX.
